NOVOSIBIRSK, May 22. Russia is still far from import-substituting the production of computer games, but over the past three years the first ones have already been released, the general director of ANO said on Wednesday » Internet Development Institute (IRI) Alexey Goreslavsky at the MediaSib forum in Novosibirsk.
“The direction in which we are far from not only replacing imports, but even presenting a worthy alternative is the gaming direction. We also consider it as content and a means of interacting with the audience in every sense. Here, of course, foreign games dominate because they are of a completely different quality,” he said.
According to the expert, if we compare Russia’s position in terms of game production in comparison with the whole world, then “we are at the level of approximately 10-15 years ago.” He noted that in this regard the world has moved forward and individual games are generating billions of dollars in turnover.
«But in three years we managed to release the first games that were entirely made in Russia, and they enjoy relatively normal popularity. I hope that in 4-5 years we will be able to reach that so that Russian citizens play Russian games, moreover, so that we can also sell them to the markets of Africa, Latin America and Asia,» Goreslavsky said.
