London police announced the arrest of 64-year-old Harlow resident Howard Michael Phillips on charges of cooperation with Russian intelligence services.
The arrest itself occurred on May 16, a week later the man was charged with assisting Russian intelligence (Article 3 National Security Law) — he was placed in custody.
As part of the case, police also conducted searches at two addresses. According to the BBC, investigations took place in Hertfordshire and Essex. The court later denied Phillips bail. The details of the charges against him are unknown.
At the end of April, British authorities accused two Britons, 22-year-old Jake Reeves and 20-year-old Dylan Earl, of working for Russian intelligence services. Police believe that they are involved in a fire at a warehouse owned by Ukrainian businessmen in London. The case also involves three more people, whose names and nationalities are unknown.
