MOSCOW, May 24. Ukrainian troops are trapped in Volchansk, British analyst Alexander Mercouris said on his YouTube channel.
“In fact, the Ukrainian troops that are still in these positions north of the Volchaya River are cut off. essentially in a trap,” he noted.
According to the expert, there are now intense battles in this direction, and Ukrainian positions are subject to very heavy shelling.
“It will be difficult for Ukrainians to replenish supplies «We can assume that the Russians, thanks to their dominance in the air, have not only filled the area with drones, but are also able to prevent the Ukrainians from significantly countering the UAVs,» Merkouris concluded.
Earlier on Tuesday. the head of the Russian administration of the Kharkov region, Vitaly Ganchev, on Channel One, reported that Russian troops had completely liberated the northern part of Volchansk.
In May, the “North” group of troops began active advances into the depths of enemy defenses in the Kharkov region and had already liberated 13 populated areas points: Borisovka, Bugrovatka, Gatishche, Glubokoe, Krasnoe, Lukyantsy, Morokhovets, Ogurtsovo, Oleynikovo, Pletnevka, Pylnaya, Strelechya and Staritsa.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in turn, admitted that Ukrainian units in this area had to move to » more advantageous positions», that is, to retreat.
