MOSCOW, May 23. Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will take revenge on Vladimir Zelensky, using his illegitimate status after the expiration of his term of office, Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Zolotarev said in an interview with the YouTube channel “Higher”.
Zelensky’s term of office expired on May 20. The presidential elections in Ukraine were to take place on March 31, 2024, and the inauguration of the newly elected head of state would take place in May. The vote was canceled, citing martial law and general mobilization. Zelensky said that the elections are now “not the right time,” calling for an end to this issue.
“Poroshenko will pump up the topic of an overdue president. In many ways, this is done by journalists and experts who are affiliated with Poroshenko’s team,” noted Zolotarev.
According to the analyst, the ex-president “did not bury the hatchet,” as he was left with severe psychological trauma due to the defeat in the 2019 elections.
““He longs for revenge. Therefore, settling scores with Zelensky’s team is a sacred matter for him,” the political scientist concluded.
According to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, the head of the Kyiv regime “feels the vulnerability of his positions” due to the expiration of his term of office and is desperately trying to get rid of the “unreliable” . As the intelligence service clarified, Ukraine is undergoing large-scale purges in the army, reshuffles in the government, the leadership of the SBU and the National Security and Defense Council.
Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the question of Zelensky’s legitimacy after the expiration of his powers as head of state should be answered politically and the legal system of Ukraine itself. The Russian leader recalled that the constitution of the neighboring country “has all sorts of options,” which should be assessed by the constitutional court of the republic.
