In the city of Pavlovsk, Voronezh region, a teacher who fought in Ukraine was detained in the case of sexualized violence against a student. This was reported by Baza and Voronezh News. Representatives of the regional department of the Investigative Committee confirmed the arrest to the publication “MINE!”
According to the investigation, cited by Baza, a history teacher committed sexualized violence against a 15-year-old eighth-grader from his school. He was detained on May 23, a case was opened under the article on “depraved acts” (Part 1 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code).
The Voronezh News publication, citing sources, claims that “depraved acts” against the teenager continued “during the school year —September 2023 to May 2024.» The Investigative Committee clarified to the publication “MOE!” that a preventive measure will soon be chosen for the man.
Baza presents the detainee as 24-year-old Ivan F. and accompanies its post with a photograph of a school lesson, where the teacher’s face was blurred. The photo was taken from an article about history teacher Ivan Fomenko from the Pavlovsk school with in-depth study of individual subjects.
The material was published by RIA Voronezh, owned by the regional government, in December 2023, but is now unavailable. Reprints remain on third-party sites and in the web archive. In addition to the RIA Voronezh article, the regional government also deleted a recent video about Fomenko.
Fomenko told reporters that at the beginning of the war he brought “food, clothing, medicine to the military as a volunteer,” and after mobilization was announced, he himself came to the military registration and enlistment office. According to him, he was refused there, “with the argument that there is no need for people with such a military specialty now,” and he went to war as a volunteer.
Fomenko moved to Pavlovsk to work at a school in October 2023 . He taught history, social studies and life safety starting from the fifth grade, and also taught “additional classes in basic military training three times a week” and “classes with Youth Army members and young traffic inspectors.” Along the way, he was the class teacher of one of the classes.
