The centralized library system of the city of Berezniki in the Perm Territory, at the request of the prosecutor's office, removed books from “foreign agents” from libraries. This was reported by the publication “7×7” with reference to the institution.
The order, published by the Perm 36.6 telegram channel, states that works by Dmitry Bykov, Boris Akunin, Dmitry Glukhovsky and Lyudmila Ulitskaya should be removed from libraries.
The centralized library system of Berezniki unites 26 city and rural libraries.
Books by “foreign agents” have already disappeared from libraries and bookstores at the request of the authorities. In Moscow libraries, for example, access to books by Lyudmila Ulitskaya, who opposed the war, was limited, and the AST publishing house and the Read-Gorod — Bukvoed chain of stores suspended the distribution of books by Boris Akunin and Dmitry Bykov.
At the end of March, the State Duma introduced a bill according to which the Ministry of Culture will be able to limit access to books by authors recognized as “foreign agents” or included in the “list of extremists and terrorists” of Rosfinmonitoring.
