MOSCOW, May 27. VTB has completed the financial audit of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), now the audit of the shipyards is being carried out by the control and audit department of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, VTB head Andrey Kostin said in an interview with the publication » Fontanka».
«We've sorted it out, we've completed our audit. Now the Ministry of Finance and the Audit Office are also conducting the audit,» he said.
Kostin added that there are plans to modernize three large shipyards in St. Petersburg. The renovation may begin with an enterprise far from the city center — the Northern Shipyard. “The plans have already been outlined, but I would like to first approve them in the government, with the president,” Kostin emphasized.
According to him, in Russia there is a need to build a new shipyard in the European part of the country.
At the end of March, State Secretary — Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov reported that USC was studying the possibility of building a new shipbuilding complex and was considering two territories where it could be located: the Far East and the North-West.
United Shipbuilding Corporation is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. Created in accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 2007 with 100% of the shares in federal ownership. In October 2023, the President of Russia signed a decree on the transfer of the state block of shares of USC to the trust management of VTB for five years. According to the document, 100% of the corporation's shares were transferred to the bank to improve management efficiency and further develop the shipbuilding industry.
