The Verkhneuralsky District Court of the Chelyabinsk Region sentenced a 36-year-old transgender woman to one and a half years of suspended imprisonment in the case of attempting to set fire to a military registration and enlistment office. 74.RU and Uralinformburo write about the verdict.
A resident of the Chelyabinsk region was found guilty of attempted damage to someone else's property (Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code with the use of Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code). According to information on the court’s website, the convicted person’s name is Daria Shemanina.
The news about the verdict was also published on the court’s website — while in the press release the person involved in the case is described as a man, in accordance with her gender marker before the change of documents . According to Uralinformburo, the convict made the trans crossing several years ago.
According to investigators, on the night of August 1, 2023, Shemanina tried to set fire to the military registration and enlistment office of the Verkhneuralsky district by throwing a Molotov cocktail at the window of the building. According to 74.RU, the fire was promptly extinguished by employees of the Russian Guard, and soon after that the woman was detained.
At the trial, a resident of the Chelyabinsk region said that she was deceived by scammers who called her and introduced themselves as “employees of the Central Bank.” Under their instructions, Shemanina took out several loans, sold the house and transferred money to their account, and subsequently agreed to set fire to the military registration and enlistment office due to financial threats to her and her loved ones. As a preventive measure, Shemanina was given a recognizance not to leave. She pleaded guilty in the case.
