ST. PETERSBURG, May 30. Yuri Zhidkov, previously convicted of murder and detained the day before in connection with the arson of a bar on Rubinstein Street in St. Petersburg, was taken into custody, reports the joint press service of the city courts.
«»The Kuibyshevsky District Court of St. Petersburg considered the investigation's request to select a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to Yuri Zhidkov, accused of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The court granted the investigation's request, choosing Zhidkov into custody on July 28 .2024,” the press service reports. 
< br />As the press service of the GUMVD for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region previously reported, on Monday there was a fire in a bar on Rubinshteina Street, 2, where 14 square meters burned (a utility room and a corridor on the second floor). The establishment was closed at the time of the fire and no one was injured. According to experts, the cause of the fire was arson. A criminal case was opened under the article on intentional destruction or damage to property.
An unemployed 36-year-old local resident, previously convicted of murder, was detained on suspicion of committing this crime. The police did not provide personal information about the detainee, but a source in the operational services clarified that they were talking about Yuri Zhidkov, convicted in 2012 for the murder of ex-participant of the Dom-2 project Andrei Kadetov.
In May 2012, the Kalininsky District Court of St. Petersburg found Zhidkov guilty of murdering Kadetov and sentenced him to 11 years in a maximum security colony. According to investigators, on the evening of December 24, 2010, Zhidkov attacked Kadetov on Svetlanovsky Prospekt, stabbed him at least four times and fled. Kadetov died in the ambulance. The investigation called the motive for the murder personal hostility towards the former participant of “House-2”.
