SAMARA, May 30.Singer Eduard Charlotte's arrest was extended; an ambulance was called to him in the Samara court; a team of doctors diagnosed a sprained ankle, said the artist's father Valery Sharlot.

When they brought him in a paddy wagon, he got off unsuccessfully and twisted his leg, it was unknown what happened to him… They called an ambulance and then took him to the traumatology department, all this was late in the evening, because the trial was over at about 12 at night… As a result, there was a sprain (of the ligaments — ed.), he was taken to a pre-trial detention center, and a splint was installed for him,” the agency’s interlocutor said. 
Charlotte became a defendant in three criminal cases in December 2023: two under Part 4 of Article 354.1 (rehabilitation of Nazism), the third under Part 1 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public actions committed to insult the religious feelings of believers). Charlotte admitted guilt, noting that he “committed the crimes unintentionally,” the investigator stated in court.
The reason was the videos that the artist posted on Instagram (owned by Meta, whose activities are banned in Russia as extremist). In these videos, Charlotte tears the St. George ribbon in the shape of the letter Z and steps on it.
In another video, Charlotte performs a naked parody of the song “Victory Day” by composer David Tukhmanov, nailing a photograph of Patriarch Kirill, his military ID and a cross with the crucifixion of Jesus Christ to a tree.
Later, a new criminal case was opened against the singer after a video with him burning the passport of a Russian citizen — under Article 325 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft or damage to documents).
