MOSCOW, May 31. Mandatory labeling of animal feed and veterinary drugs will begin in Russia from September 1 of this year, follows from government regulations available .
«To establish that participants in the circulation of animal feed packaged in consumer packaging, in accordance with the rules approved by this resolution: submit to the state information system for monitoring the circulation of goods subject to mandatory labeling with identification means, an application for registration in the information monitoring system starting from September 1, 2024,» one of the documents states. Similar information is contained in the second document on veterinary drugs.
Thus, the introduction of labeling of animal feed and medicines will take place in several stages. From September 1, mandatory registration in the state marking system «Honest Sign» begins for participants in the turnover.
Starting from October 1, labeling should appear on packages of dry food and treats. From the same date, manufacturers and importers of these products must send information about the introduction of goods into circulation into the system. Labeling of wet pet food will begin on March 1, 2025. Information on the withdrawal of feed from circulation must be transferred to the labeling system from September 1, 2025.
At the same time, companies producing and importing veterinary medicinal products must begin labeling products and transferring information about the introduction of goods into circulation into the system from October 1, 2024 of the year. Information on the retail sale of veterinary drugs must be submitted from March 1, 2025, and from September 1, 2025 — information on drugs supplied to veterinary medical institutions and agricultural holdings.
