MOSCOW, June 1 Sudan does not give up obligations to build a Russian Navy base in the Red Sea, the project will be implemented, Sudanese Ambassador to Moscow Mohammed Sirraj said in an interview.
«This is a logistics support point in the Red Sea, about which an agreement was signed between the two countries. And we are considering this issue within the framework of bilateral relations, which, as I see, are developing, and we hope for further strengthening of bilateral relations,” the diplomat said.
He emphasized that since the agreement was signed by two countries, this is an obligation of both Moscow and Khartoum implement the project.
«Sudan is committed to fulfilling this commitment, and the problem is only in completing some procedural issues. We are not abandoning our obligations to build the base,» Sirraj concluded.
