MOSCOW, June 3Over the 9 years of its existence, 11 million cars have connected to the state information system «ERA-GLONASS», according to the press service of JSC GLONASS.
«The number of cars connected to the ERA-GLONASS state information system has reached 11 million. Since the beginning of 2024 alone, the fleet of vehicles with an installed SOS button has been replenished by almost 800 thousand cars. Moreover, over the entire last year, a million cars were connected to the system «, the message says.
The GLONASS company was created on June 3, 2015, as part of the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin. «Today, the state automated information system effectively fulfills its main state task: emergency notification in case of accidents, saving thousands of people annually,» the press service quotes Alexey Raikevich, CEO of JSC GLONASS.
Thanks to this system, emergency services receive data about an accident in just 19 seconds. Thus, the press service notes, the system helps to comply with the «golden hour» rule in disaster medicine, when every second during the first 60 minutes after an accident depends on preserving the health and saving the lives of injured drivers and passengers.
“Over the entire period of ERA-GLONASS’s existence, more than 380 thousand emergency calls from motorists were transmitted to rescuers. In 80% of such messages, the response occurred automatically in severe accidents. Practice shows that in such situations, drivers and passengers could not call for help on their own , find or reach your mobile phone,” the authors emphasize.
In addition to emergency notification based on ERA-GLONASS, there is a public transport monitoring system in all regions of Russia. “The solution allows millions of passengers to plan their route in real time, receive information about routes and arrival times of public transport at specific stops through popular mobile applications,” the press service notes.
Based on this, the company plans to launch the Federal Navigation Information System (FNIS) in 2024. “We are currently working on connecting public transport, ambulances and unmanned aerial vehicles to the new system,” the statement says. In the future, it is possible to connect to the platform any types of transport that require movement monitoring to improve safety and efficiency: these are school buses, municipal vehicles, tourist buses.
