A resident of Chernogorsk, during his arrest, snatched the service weapon from a policeman and wounded a second security officer, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Khakassia reported. After this, the 41-year-old detainee died in an ambulance that was taking him to the department of a psychiatric hospital.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on the morning of June 2, the duty department received a call that “on Nekrasov Street a man is running along the street in a state of intoxication and behaving inappropriately” — two local police officers went to the scene.
A resident of Chernogorsk, according to the department, did not respond to the demands of the police, so they “were forced to use physical force.” The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that the man “exhibited active resistance” — he snatched the service weapon from one of the security forces and shot at his partner. The 24-year-old district police officer was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound — his life is not in danger, the department emphasized.
Police officers detained the man with the assistance of the National Guard. The department does not specify what happened next, but writes that a resident of Chernogorsk died in an ambulance that was taking him to the psychiatric ward of the hospital.
“The cause of death will be determined based on the results of a forensic examination,” the police said in a statement.
The Office of the Investigative Committee for Khakassia reported on the initiation of a criminal case for an attempt on the life of a security officer (Article 317 of the Criminal Code). The Investigative Committee noted that the detainee died on the way to the hospital “due to a sharp deterioration in his health.”
