Tracked modules for geological exploration will be tested in Russia

MOSCOW, June 3The Scientific Research Automotive Institute (NAMI), together with the military-industrial holding KMZ (Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant) and the KAMAZ plant, for the first time in the Russian Federation, will conduct tests in the next two months as part of import substitution of tracked modules used on vibration sources for geological exploration, said KMZ Managing Director Mikhail Danilenko .
Previously, these modules were supplied to Russia and around the world by the French company SERCEL. These were the NOMAD65 and NOMAD65NEO cars.

«In the next two months, NAMI will undergo tests for the first time in the Russian Federation. The base KamAZ chassis will be equipped with tracked modules of our design. The products of the French company have undergone complete reengineering within the walls of the military-industrial holding KMZ. The company has developed design documentation, prepared technological processes for manufacturing directly at domestic industrial capacities,» Danilenko said.

According to him, there are currently a sufficient number of such machines in operation in Russia; their regular use requires timely replacement of modules and routine maintenance, thus creating two sales markets in the form of support for the operation of French machines, the spare parts for which are mostly parts were stopped being brought to Russia.
«The second niche is the creation of completely domestic vehicles based on KamAZ, adaptation of the base chassis for the creation of vibration sources for deep geological exploration,» Danilenko noted.
He explained that the vibration source sends a strong vibration signal into the ground, due to reflection, it allows one to analyze the nature of the deposit and its depth.
