
ST. PETERSBURG , June 4The concession agreement for the construction of the high-speed railway (HSR) Moscow — St. Petersburg is undergoing final approvals, Governor of the Northern capital Alexander Beglov said in an interview on the eve of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
«Right now, Russian Railways is completing the development of a land use planning project for connecting the high-speed railway to the existing railway tracks of the Moscow railway station. The concession agreement for the construction of the high-speed railway line is undergoing final approvals,» he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin participated via video link on March 14 in an event dedicated to the launch of the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed rail project.
High-speed is a specialized electrified double-track railway line for operating trains at speeds from 200 to 400 kilometers per hour. There are no such roads in Russia yet. The pilot project will be the high-speed railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg. Travel time will be 2 hours 15 minutes.
