Major General of Aviation, Hero of Russia Sergei Lipovoy answered the question of whether Kyiv could use F-16 aircraft, which Western countries are transferring to it, to try to attack Moscow.
«Theoretically, it (missiles fired from the F-16 — Ed.) can fly to Moscow or Sochi, but in practice it is unlikely,» the expert said in an interview with NSN.
He noted that Russian air defense units are now shooting down up to 50-70 ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles per day, and if they try to launch something deep into Russian territory, they will, of course, be destroyed.
Lipovoy stressed that the F-16 fighters will not fundamentally change anything on the battlefield. In addition, the expert noted, they need special airfields, but there are none in Ukraine. If they are used from airfields in Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, then “all these airfields will fall into the sights of our missilemen and aerospace forces as military targets.”
