Opposition leader Ilya Yashin has been given another 12 days in solitary confinement, the politician's Telegram channel reports.
This time, the violation was that Yashin took off his uniform for a few minutes after leaving the shower to change into a T-shirt. According to the administration of Correctional Colony No. 3 in the Smolensk Region, the politician «violated the dress code» in this way.
The day before, Yashin was supposed to be released from the punishment cell, where he spent 15 days. At that time, the formal reason for placing him in solitary confinement was that Yashin left his sleeping place in the barracks three minutes after the «rise» command. The politician himself believes that the colony administration disrupted his meeting with his parents.
On Thursday, May 30, Yashin's channel reports that «FSIN special forces arrived at the colony: fighters in masks and bulletproof vests took Ilya out of the cell, stripped him down to his underwear and thoroughly searched him.» The next day, the oppositionist was banned from meeting with the priest who had come from Moscow for this purpose, and was then sentenced to another 12 days in solitary confinement.

Yashin was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison in December 2022 for a stream during which he spoke about the murders of Bucha residents by Russian soldiers. He was found guilty in the case of military «fakes» (paragraph «d» of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code).
In November 2023, the politician was transferred to a penal colony. After quarantine, he was immediately sent to a punishment cell because he refused to join a construction team to build a new barracks.
