    BERLIN, June 4 The state prosecution asked for five years and six months in prison for the accused of attempting to set fire to a house in Berlin, a court correspondent reports.
    The state prosecutor, during the debate in the criminal court in the case of Dmitry B., accused of the failed arson of the house of employees in Berlin, requested 5.5 years in prison as punishment for attempted murder, as well as for manipulating gas and electricity in the apartment where the person involved lived.

    The Berlin prosecutor's office previously announced that the defendant, a Russian citizen, was charged with attempted murder and attempted arson of the house where correspondents live and work. As the press service of the criminal court stated in response to a request, the maximum penalty for attempted murder, according to the laws of Germany, can be life imprisonment.

    The accused was detained on December 14, 2022 and has been in custody since then, 55-year-old Russian Dmitry B. is accused of collecting on his own between March 30, 2022 and May 6, 2022, without the help of third parties, a homemade incendiary device and then placed it himself or with the help of third parties on the territory of a residential building in Berlin. According to Tagesschau (part of the ARD holding), the basis for the charges is the repeated presence of the defendant’s mobile phone and car near the crime scene, as well as the discovery of traces of his DNA on the pawned device.
    In addition to charges of attempted murder and attempted arson of the house where correspondents live and work, the person involved in the case is also accused of illegally receiving “coronavirus aid” and manipulating gas and electricity supplies in a rented apartment.
