UN, May 4. Students from the school at the Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN in New York presented for foreign diplomats a production based on “The Tale of Tsar Saltan” by Alexander Pushkin.
On the eve of Russian Language Day, which is celebrated on June 6, the Russian mission to the UN organized an exhibition at the headquarters of the world organization on the theme of the Russian language, Russian folklore and fairy tales from the pen of Alexander Pushkin. 
Diplomats from Serbia, Nicaragua, BRICS countries, African states and the CIS took part in the exhibition. Movses Abelyan, UN Deputy Secretary General for General Assembly and Conference Management, also gave a speech about the Russian language.
“Multilingualism of the UN is the key to success when discussing the most important problems and ideas that concern the whole world and each country individually. The Russian language has an extremely important role in this,” said Dmitry Chumakov, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, at the event.
According to him, the Russian language helps a number of delegations discuss issues and share experiences. At the same time, Chumakov noted that the Russian language has been attacked from outside more than once. 
» It still has to be protected today. However, today I would like to say in more detail that the Russian language must also be protected from internal misfortunes,” he emphasized.
The diplomat drew attention to the harmful influence of Internet language, swear words, abuse of borrowings, and jargon.
«How can one not remember the heroine of the novel by Ilf and Petrov “The Twelve Chairs”, Ellochka the cannibal, with her thirty words for all occasions. Today my appeal is addressed to all of us: the vocabulary of Ellochka the cannibal is something to beware of» , said Chumakov.
