
VELIKIY NOVGOROD, June 5 In Veliky Novgorod, not far from the Kremlin, four students from India allegedly drowned in the Volkhov River, the search for the bodies of the dead continues, reported law enforcement source.
As reported earlier by the regional headquarters of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, on Tuesday evening at 9 p.m. emergency services received information that a girl was drowning in the Volkhov River in a place not designated for swimming near the Kremlin. Fire and rescue units arrived at the scene. It was preliminarily established that the girl and four young men went swimming. Because of the strong current, everyone began to drown. Eyewitnesses saved the girl and handed her over to doctors, the search for the rest continues. 
» At about five in the morning, the search for bodies was resumed. There is information that students from India died, it is now being verified,” the source noted.
As the press service of the regional prosecutor's office clarifies, we are talking about the death of four young people aged 18 to 20 years. The supervisory agency has organized an inspection, as a result of which it will evaluate the activities of the city administration in organizing and equipping special bathing places.
The Investigative Committee of the region also organized an inspection. Information about the death of Indian students has not been officially confirmed.
