MOSCOW, May 16, Yulia Zachetova. The singer SHAMAN is releasing a video for the song “Beloved Woman”. On the eve of this event, the artist spoke in an interview about his relationship with his wife Elena, his daughter Varvara, his upcoming participation in VK Fest, as well as what personal creative record he plans to break.
— Yaroslav, your new composition “Beloved Woman” is absolutely romantic. But, it seems to me, most listeners still associate you with patriotic songs.
— Judging by the three sold-out concerts at the Crocus with the lyrical program «You are mine», which were on March 9, 10 and 11, the audience accepts me in any way. For which I thank them very much. And my work has enough of everything: there are songs about religion, about God, there are philosophical ones — about life, overcoming. And lyrics, and, of course, patriotic compositions. All these are facets of my «ward» artist SHAMAN.
— In one of your interviews, you admitted that you are not a great husband: you spend little time at home and mostly sleep. Does Elena understand this?
— The thing is, she has nowhere to go. She, of course, understands that music and creativity are my life and the people's love demands that you be in one city for a concert today, tomorrow in another, the day after tomorrow in a third. Understands that I have a specific goal, my path, my mission, and does not prevent me from fulfilling my destiny given to me from above.
— Isn’t she jealous of your fans?
— She is a highly intelligent person, and such people cannot be jealous.
—Have you and Elena been married for seven years now? What is the secret of a harmonious, strong marriage, in your opinion? How do you warm up relationships?
— I try to send her a bouquet every day in my absence. Wherever I am, every day she receives flowers and a note from me, but I won’t tell you what’s in it.
— Is this the same note?
— Yes.
— Is your daughter from your first marriage, Varvara, following in your footsteps? Do you want her to become an artist? What, perhaps, do you warn against in this profession, how do you give advice?
— She is still a child and tries herself in different guises: she plays the piano beautifully, dances and makes some progress in sports. We'll have to wait and see what comes of it. But if she chooses music, of course, I will help her.
— You will take part in VK Fest. What are you preparing for the audience?
— I don’t know yet, there’s a lot of time before the festival. But you puzzled me with a question — I’ll think about what surprises to prepare for the audience, how to diversify my show and how to surprise.
— A performance at a festival is, of course, different from a concert in a hall. What does participating in VK Fest give you emotionally?
— This is a youth festival, and, of course, any performance with such an audience is loud in the truest sense of the word. Because in the open air the young audience screams very loudly — and this fills me with energy. Moreover, from all over our vast Motherland I receive video postcards from schoolchildren and students who perform my compositions. This young energy warms me up for new songs.
— Spectators at your concerts say that powerful energy comes from you. How do you maintain this charge in yourself and get ready before the performance?
—I don’t do anything special to go on stage and, as they say, take over the audience. Still, this probably comes with experience, because I’ve been on stage since I was four years old, and soon I’ll be performing for 30 years. But, in addition to experience, you also need to have God’s spark, of course. Still, this cannot be learned. Since the audience feels the energy themselves, it means I’m doing everything right.
< br />— What are your immediate creative and touring plans?
— Launch of a completely new concert program. And we will begin its presentation with a large-scale, grandiose concert, which, according to my idea, should interrupt the success of last year’s performance at the Gazprom Arena, where there were 60 thousand spectators.
