The Ministry of Internal Affairs has put former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko on the wanted list

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has added People's Deputy of Ukraine and former Prime Minister of the country Yulia Tymoshenko to the wanted list.

It is unknown what criminal case the politician is wanted for. Law enforcement agencies have not recently announced the start of an investigation against Tymoshenko.

Tymoshenko was already wanted in the mid-2000s in a bribery case initiated by the Main Military Prosecutor's Office of Russia in 2001. «Mediazona» found out that her name reappeared in the wanted database on the afternoon of June 7, after which Russian state news agencies reported this.

Tymoshenko served as Prime Minister of Ukraine in February-September 2005 and in 2007-2010. In 2019, she participated in the presidential elections, which were won by Vladimir Zelensky. Now Tymoshenko heads the Batkivshchyna party.

In 2011, a court in Ukraine sentenced a politician to seven years in prison in a case of abuse of power and official authority when concluding gas contracts with Russia. Three years later she was released and the case was closed.

In Russia, Tymoshenko was suspected of giving bribes to Russian officials. According to investigators, the politician instructed her acquaintance to “organize and transfer bribes to a group of Russian officials.” The military prosecutor's office transferred this case to the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine. In 2005, the case was closed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
