A citizen of Kyrgyzstan, who in Russia is accused of threatening the judge and prosecutor in the Navalny case, was arrested in Kazakhstan.

A court in Kazakhstan, at the request of Russia, arrested 29-year-old Kyrgyz citizen Alina Gorshenina, who was wanted in a criminal case of threats or violence in connection with the administration of justice (Article 296 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by Rusnews.

The girl was detained at the border of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on June 1. Her mother Larisa said that she and her daughter were going to Almaty for a two-day vacation. According to the mother, the court in Kazakhstan decided to extradite Gorshenina to Russia. At the same time, Rusnews writes that the girl was only arrested for 40 days, and her extradition is being discussed.

As Mediazona found out, Gorshenina’s name appeared in the Ministry of Internal Affairs search database no later than December 27, 2023. According to Rusnews, the case against her was opened in June of the same year. Larisa Gorshenina says that he is being investigated under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code — this means that the girl is also accused of using violence dangerous to life and health.

The girl’s mother said that, judging by the case materials, threats to government officials in Russia came from unidentified numbers. “Why did they decide that these unidentified numbers belong to my daughter? The most tragic thing in this situation is that my daughter had not traveled outside of Kyrgyzstan at all at the time of committing the alleged crime,” the woman said. According to her, Gorshenina was last in Russia in 2018, and on the day of the attack on a judge in the Moscow region, which she is charged with, she was at Lake Issyk-Kul.

According to Rusnews, the girl is accused of threatening Moscow Regional Court judge Elena Morozova and prosecutor Elena Koloskova. On January 18, 2021, Morozova placed Alexei Navalny under arrest, the day after he returned to Russia after being poisoned with Novichok. Koloskova participated in the same meeting.

Gorshenina is raising a child alone; she has a brain tumor, kidney problems and hypertension, says the girl’s mother. “She is in a state where she doesn’t want to live and is afraid for her future. She didn’t commit any crime,” the woman said.
