A court in the Moscow region sent the deputy head of the “Call of the People” movement to a pre-trial detention center accused of murder.

The Lobnensky City Court arrested for two months Dmitry Matveev, accused of murdering the deputy chairman of the “Call of the People” movement Anton Egovtsev (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code). Shot reports.

Matveev asked to be sent to a hospital, and not to a pre-trial detention center. According to the man, he has problems with his eyesight and kidneys. His defense requested house arrest. Matveev did not admit guilt in the murder.

Egovtsev was killed on June 7. According to the prosecutor's office, he was attacked with a hammer and knife out of jealousy. In “Call of the People” they said that the attacker was in love with Yegovtsev’s wife and demanded that he leave her.

Participants of the “Call of the People” movement are known for their denunciations—based on their complaints, for example, concerts have been repeatedly cancelled. At the end of 2023, Egovtsev himself was happy that Philip Kirkorov was cut out of New Year’s TV shows for participating in a “naked party.” He also called for bloggers to be fined for depicting cigarettes and advocated a ban on abortion.
