SIMFEROPOL, June 9 A resident of the urban village of Novaya Mayachka in the Kherson region died during shelling from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reported the regional governor Vladimir Saldo in the Telegram channel.
«A local resident, a young man born in 1998, was killed. A woman was wounded, she was sent to the Kalanchak central regional hospital,» the publication says.
Saldo clarified that Ukrainian troops shelled the village from the MLRS, destroying two houses.
The Kherson region is located in the lower reaches of the Dnieper, washed by the Azov and Black Seas. It became a subject of the Russian Federation following a referendum in September 2022. The Ukrainian side does not recognize its legitimacy and attacks the region. Currently, 75 percent of the territory of the Kherson region is under Russian control, and the right bank of the Dnieper, including the city of Kherson, is held by Ukrainian troops.
