Another defendant has been arrested in the case of the former commander of the 58th Army of the Russian Armed Forces, Major General Ivan Popov, for fraud. This was reported by law enforcement agencies on Monday, June 10. The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
Recall that earlier the Second Western District Military Court reported that, according to the investigation, General Ivan Popov, accused of fraud, acted as part of an organized group, and his accomplice was Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov, who died during the SVO.
Popov's lawyer Sergei Buinovsky also commented on the investigation's statement that his client allegedly gave incriminating testimony against other participants in the case. The defense attorney stated that the general «did not incriminate anyone.»
