BEIJING, June 10 Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, speaking at a meeting of the BRICS foreign ministers in Nizhny Novgorod, stated the need to strengthen resolve to defend peace and security.
“It is necessary to strengthen the resolve to protect peace and security and give new impetus to the political resolution of pressing issues,” Wang Yi said, as quoted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
He also noted that, as history has repeatedly shown, Cold War thinking, bloc confrontation, and external intervention cannot solve problems and can only lead to even greater problems and crises.
«No matter how difficult the situation is, dialogue and consultation cannot be abandoned. No matter how the conflict escalates, it is necessary to firmly adhere to a political settlement,» Wang Yi said.
Two-day meeting of foreign ministers BRICS countries is taking place in Nizhny Novgorod, the Russian delegation is headed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
