The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced crime boss Oleg Medvedev (Shishkan) to life imprisonment, a TASS correspondent reports.
Medvedev will serve his sentence in a maximum security colony, and he was also fined 5 million rubles .
In mid-May, a jury found Medvedev guilty of organizing a criminal community and participating in it (Article 210 of the Criminal Code), murder (105 of the Criminal Code), extortion (163 of the Criminal Code), causing harm to health (111 of the Criminal Code) and illegal storage of firearms and ammunition (222 Criminal Code). According to the jury, Medvedev does not deserve leniency. It took them three days to reach a verdict; they answered more than 150 questions from the court.
In addition to Shishkan, there are 17 defendants in the case — they received sentences ranging from probation to life, TASS writes, without giving details. The trial took place at mobile sessions in the Moscow City Court.
According to the investigation, the thief in law and his accomplices in 2012 killed the general director of Plemzavod Ramenskoye, local government deputy Tatyana Sidorova, her husband, and son and sister in order to take away land plots from the plant.
Members of the group, operating since the 90s, noted the Investigative Committee, extorted money from businessmen of the Ramensky district of the Moscow region and committed murders “to eliminate competition in the field of natural resource extraction” .
In addition, the accused attacked people who refused to comply with Shishkan’s demands and set fire to their property. For example, in 2014, gang members attacked a resident of the village of Volodarsky, who refused to give them profits from the illegal mining and sale of minerals; the man died on the spot.
Medvedev was detained in Lyubertsy in 2019, the court began considering the case in the fall of 2023.
