“These are preliminary figures that may differ from the final ones,” said the head of the EP Roberta Metsola.
According to the first preliminary data exit poll, the EPP can get 181 seats out of 720 in the new European Parliament. At the same time, in the last convocation, where a total of 705 deputies were elected, it had 176 seats.
For subsequent approval of the current head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen for a second term in office, she will need at least 361 votes of MEPs.
The Party of European Socialists can receive 135 mandates, the liberal democratic association Renew Europe — 82 mandates, Identity and Democracy — 62 seats , «European Conservatives and Reformists» — 71, the Green Party — 53, the «European Left» — 34, another 102 seats — non-aligned or first-time elected deputies.
