
BRUSSELS, June 10 The current head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, supported by the leading EPP party in the European Parliament elections, said she is confident of her re-election to a new term at the head of the European Commission.
““The majority we have received obliges us to take steps to use the majority to strengthen Europe, we will start working tomorrow. We will cooperate with those who share our goals,” she said.
Von der Leyen answered affirmatively when asked about her re-election as head of the European Commission: “Yes, I am sure, but I understand that there is still a lot of work ahead,” she added.
She also said that she would work in the European Parliament with those who share common goals, including in supporting Ukraine.
The first official preliminary results of the elections to the European Parliament confirm the leadership of the party supporting the current head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the European People's Party (EPP), she gets 186-189 seats out of 720.
