MOSCOW, June 12 American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk said that the personal antics of the son of current American President Joe Biden Hunter do not play a significant role, but damaging the reputation of the United States is unacceptable.
Previously, a jury in a Delaware court found Hunter Biden guilty of all counts charged in the case of weapons violations. According to the prosecutor's office, he used drugs, which deprived him of the right to purchase a pistol, lied on the questionnaire and still purchased a weapon in October 2018, and then owned it while using illegal substances. He faces up to 25 years in prison and a $750,000 fine, although first-time offenders are typically not given prison sentences.
«In my opinion, Hunter's personal antics do not have much significance… However, damaging the reputation and authority of the United States is unacceptable, since it disgraces the country,» Musk wrote on his account on the social network X.
Earlier, Musk suggested checking whether Hunter Biden was involved in corrupting foreign countries.
Hunter Biden will also have to participate in a tax evasion trial in the state of California. In both cases he maintains his innocence. His case was the first in history when the son of a sitting US president was put on trial and found guilty.
American leader Joe Biden said after the guilty verdict that he accepts the jury's decision and respects the legal system.
Hunter Biden can appeal the decision.
