Dmitry Peskov refused to comment words of Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who linked the suspension of membership and the republic’s possible accession to the CSTO with the position of the President of Belarus. According to Pashinyan, Lukashenko openly supported Baku in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and wished Aliyev victory. “And after that I will go with the head of Belarus in the CSTO format to discuss something? I state that from now on I will never go to Belarus again. As long as President Alexander Lukashenko is in Belarus. And in general, I declare that from now on, not a single official representative of Armenia will go to Belarus. In general,” Pashinyan said. He added that Yerevan could remain in the ODBC if Belarus leaves, or Lukashenko finds “such words of apology and explanation” that will be “acceptable for the people of Armenia.”
Answering the question whether Russia is ready to act as a mediator and try to resolve the conflict between Pashinyan and Lukashenko, Peskov said that contacts with the Armenian side will continue. “We expect that (between Moscow and Yerevan) the allied and partnership nature of relations will prevail,” he noted.
Peskov said that he leaves without comment Pashinyan’s statements regarding Lukashenko, his support for Azerbaijan and the CSTO.
