46-year-old cameraman of the propaganda channel NTV Valery Kozhin died after being wounded in Gorlovka occupied by Russian troops. The TV channel itself reported his death.
“The doctors saved him for several hours, but the injuries turned out to be incompatible with life,” wrote the NTV editors. Kozhin has worked there since 2006.
The second employee of the TV channel, Alexey Ivliev, was operated on; there is no threat to his life, propagandists added.
Kozhin and Ivliev were injured on the afternoon of June 13. According to the Russian-appointed head of Gorlovka, Ivan Prikhodko, they were wounded “while performing professional duties” in the village of Golmovsky. An escort officer was injured along with the NTV film crew.
The chief doctor of Gorlovka City Hospital No. 2, where the wounded were taken, said that Kozhin and Ivliev are in a coma, they have “traumatic amputation and an open cranial brain.”
