
YEKATERINBURG, June 15 An Arctic testing center for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) will be created in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the press service of the regional government reports.
“The district was one of the three pilot regions participating in the national project “Unmanned Aviation Systems” in terms of creating infrastructure for drones, along with the Samara and Tomsk regions. A UAS testing center will be created in the region, as well as stationary and mobile sites for testing and certification of unmanned aircraft systems for use in the Arctic,» the statement says. 
The base testing site will be created on the territory of the Obdorsk take-off landing site in Salekhard. It provides for the expansion of the control room and airfield infrastructure for controlling drone flights, as well as their maintenance and repair.
According to the authorities, a mobile platform based on off-road vehicles is planned to be deployed at agreed points to solve testing or logistics problems. It will include a solid collapsible platform for takeoff and landing, a prefabricated pneumatic module for maintenance and repair of unmanned aircraft, communications equipment, heat and power supplies, and equipment for long-term work of specialists in field conditions.
Mobile landing sites will be located in the villages of Pelvozh, Katravozh, Kharp, in the area of the Kharbey River, at the Payuta and Laborovaya trading posts. The number of points will increase taking into account the infrastructure capabilities in the Shuryshkarsky, Yamal and Priuralsky regions. Specialists from Russian scientific organizations and certification centers will be involved to conduct tests in Yamal.
