The upgraded SUV was announced as a separate new version of the Super Edition. This cross will be offered with an aspirated engine, while other options will have turbo engines. It is possible that subsequently the five-door with the “surname” Super will displace the 2023 model car from the range.
This compact Geely crossover on the BMA platform debuted in 2018. In China, it is called Binyue, while in export markets, including Russia, the model is known as Coolray. The SUV has already undergone several restylings, and in its homeland, as usual, two modifications are currently being sold at once. The most prestigious crossover with the most extensive alterations is called Binyue Cool — it debuted in 2022. And the simpler version is “just” Binyue, and it was last refreshed last year. So now another version has been announced in the Celestial Empire — based on the “simple” crossover of the 2023 model. This version is called Super Edition. By the way, two Coolrays are also presented in Russia today: the model after a major restyling in 2022 is sold under the native Geely brand, and our previous crossover was transferred to the Belarusian brand Belgee.

So, the five-door got a different radiator grille — with horizontal black «strokes» instead of vertical bars. In addition, a chrome strip appeared on top. The contrasting insert in the front is no longer there. The stern was not affected by the reforms, except that the twin exhaust pipes on display for the Geely Binyue Super Edition may not be provided in principle.

The main technical update is a 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine with a power of 126 hp. The engine is combined with a five-speed manual or CVT. “Simply” Geely Binyue is available today with turbo fours 1.4 (141 hp) and 1.5 (181 hp), the first engine is paired with a 6MT, the second is equipped with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches. The “prestigious” Binyue Cool is equipped with a 181-horsepower 1.5T and 7DCT. In any case, the drive is exclusively front-wheel drive.

The Geely Binyue Super Edition will be released on the Chinese market in the near future. Prices have not yet been announced. Local media believe that such a crossover will cost somewhere from 60,000 yuan (about 722,000 rubles at the current exchange rate). Binyue with a turbo engine now costs from 75,000 yuan (903,000 rubles), Binyue Cool — from 99,800 yuan (1,202,000 rubles). It is possible that over time the Super Edition will displace a crossover without prefixes from the Chinese Geely line.
