The Moscow Department of Health has denied data on mass poisoning due to botulism

MOSCOW, June 15 Information about mass poisoning in Moscow caused by botulism is not true, the capital's health department reported.

“We are talking about patients admitted to an infectious diseases hospital with symptoms of poisoning and suspected botulism. This disease remains suspected in four patients. Among them there are patients in serious condition. “Everything necessary for the final diagnosis and treatment of this disease is available,” the department clarified.


Before this, the media claimed that ten people were hospitalized in the capital, all of whom were diagnosed with botulism.

The department noted that patients are provided with a full range of diagnostic and treatment measures in a specialized hospital.

“Botulism is an infectious disease that is not transmitted from person to person, but occurs when eating foods containing botulinum microorganisms,” the department emphasized.

In addition, they added that the Moscow Department of Rospotrebnadzor has identified the alleged source of infection, an epidemiological investigation is underway and all necessary measures are being taken.
The situation is under the control of both departments.
