Judge Oksana Demyasheva, who sentenced artist Sasha Skochilenko to seven years in prison, became deputy chairman of the Kalininsky District Court of St. Petersburg. According to the press secretary of the St. Petersburg courts, Daria Lebedeva, the decree on this was signed by Vladimir Putin.
Demyasheva sentenced Sasha Skochilenko in the case of military “fakes” motivated by political hatred (clause “e” of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) on November 16 last year. The reason for the criminal prosecution of the artist was an anti-war action: the girl replaced price tags in the Perekrestok store with stickers with information about the number of victims of the war in Ukraine and calls to stop it.
A few days after this, the Qualification Board of Judges of St. Petersburg recommended Demyashev for the position of deputy chairman of the Kalininsky District Court of the city.
In May 2024, the European Union included Oksana Demyasheva on its sanctions list as involved in “internal repression” and human rights violations in Russia.
