MOSCOW, June 15 Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Army A.V. Alexandrova is holding a series of performances in China. The first concert as part of the tour took place on Wednesday in Beijing at the State Grand Theater of China (National Center for the Performing Arts), the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
As the ministry noted, the ensemble presented the program in two sections: military-patriotic and Russian folk songs and dances, works in Chinese.
Also on Russia Day, the ensemble took part in a gala event with the participation of high-ranking Chinese guests at the Russian Embassy in Beijing.
“The combined choir performed the national anthems of Russia and China, then in front of the embassy there was a small performance by the Alexandrovites for the employees and guests of the embassy,” the department noted.
According to the ministry, on Friday the ensemble's concert at the National Center for the Performing Arts was attended by Member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China (with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister) Shen Yiqin and the country's Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli.
The Russian ensemble's performances as part of a tour dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries will take place every evening from June 12 to 16 on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater of China, and will also take place on Saturday morning at the Beijing Opera House.
The Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Army named after A. V. Alexandrov first went on tour in China in 1949, and has performed 16 times in 42 cities of the Celestial Empire in its entire history.
The legendary Russian military ensemble celebrated its 95th anniversary on October 12, 2023. The ensemble has performed in 78 countries in Asia, Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, North and South America.
