
MOSCOW, June 16 UK Maritime Trade Operations Office (UKMTO) ) the British Navy said on Sunday that it had received information about an incident near the Yemeni port of Mokha (Mokka).
«UKMTO has received a report of an incident 40 nautical miles (about 74 kilometers — ed.) south of Moha, Yemen,» the department said in a message on the social network X.
The incident is classified as an attack, authorities are investigating, the department said. UKMTO advised vessels to navigate the area with caution and report any suspicious activity.
Later management, citing the captain of the ship, reported two explosions that occurred in the immediate vicinity of the ship. It is noted that the crew is safe, the ship was not damaged, it is heading to its destination port.
The ruling Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) in northern Yemen, which controls most of the Yemeni Red Sea coast, previously announced its support for Palestine and intending to attack any ships associated with Israel, calling on other countries to recall their crews from them and not to approach them at sea. At the same time, they stated that they do not interfere with freedom of navigation in the region and do not interfere with ships of other countries. Amid the attacks, some companies decided to suspend transportation through the Red Sea.
