The Kirov District Court of Astrakhan fined Eva Bekzhanova 15,000 rubles for a picture about Jews. Mediazona drew attention to the ruling.
28-year-old Bekzhanova works at the Astrakhan Medical University, in the educational department. Because of story on WhatsApp a protocol was drawn up against her under the article on inciting hatred (20.3.1 of the Administrative Code).
The picture had the caption: «We are against Jewish refugees! An appeal to everyone: do not rent out apartments to them, do not sell them housing, do not drive them in your car, do not serve them in establishments. We all saw how Palestine sheltered them and what gratitude it received. Today, Palestinian children are dying at their hands, tomorrow it may affect our people.»
It is unknown when exactly it was posted.
The Astrakhan resident said that she saw the picture on one of the students and posted a screenshot. At the meeting, she noted that she «did not want to incite hatred or enmity, but only showed sympathy [towards] the people of Palestine.»

After the start of the military confrontation between Israel and Hamas in October 2023, unrest began in the regions of the North Caucasus. After rumors about the arrival of “Jewish refugees” in Makhachkala, people broke into the airport tarmac, in Khasavyurt they threw stones at a hotel, and in Nalchik they set fire to an unfinished Jewish center. In Cherkessk, several dozen people came to the building of the government of the republic, demanding “not to allow Israeli refugees into the North Caucasus” and “evict ethnic Jews.”
In Dagestan, a case of “mass riots” was opened due to a pogrom at the airport . Charges were brought against 136 people. The first of them began to be tried in another region — in Armavir, Krasnodar Territory. In total, the investigation estimated the number of participants in the pogrom at one and a half thousand people.
