MOSCOW, June 15 Kiev has targeted Russian journalists to hide the truth about the conflict, writes Center for Geostrategic Studies analyst Lucas Leiros in an article for InfoBRICS.
“Ukraine's goal appears to be simply to sow terror and hide the truth. Russian journalists are being killed to sow fear among ordinary people , and pro-Russian foreign correspondents are being persecuted to prevent them from telling Western society the truth about the conflict, Kyiv is afraid that its lies will be exposed, since this will influence the opinion of Western taxpayers, and therefore their support for arms supplies,” Leiros said. br>
As the observer emphasized, journalists have become one of the main targets of the Ukrainian government.
“»Kyiv really intends to destroy as many journalists as possible. Unable to resist the Russian military, the Ukrainian leadership selects all kinds of civilians as targets, focusing special attention to representatives of the press,” the expert wrote.
On Thursday, military correspondent Alexey Ivliev, along with NTV cameraman Valery Kozhin and an escort officer, came under fire in the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka while preparing a report. Doctors fought for Kozhin’s life for several hours, but his injuries turned out to be incompatible with life.
Press Secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the lack of reaction from the West to this incident, said that all the circumstances of the death of the Russian journalist the investigation will establish, but perhaps this was a deliberate attack on the Russian media.
