Photojournalist Nikita Tsitsagi died near Ugledar, said the head of the self-proclaimed DPR Denis Pushilin.
According to him, this happened due to shelling from the Ukrainian side in the vicinity of the St. Nicholas Monastery.
According to News.ru, for which Tsitsagi wrote, he died due to a drone attack and planned to make a report from the monastery.
In addition to News.ru, 29-year-old Tsitsagi also collaborated with TASS, the newspaper “Kommersant”, the publications “Kholod”, “Novaya Tab” and Lenta.ru. Since March 2022, he has published reports from the occupied territories of Ukraine and the border regions of Russia.
His report “Everything is burning and there is nothing” for “New Tab” about the shelling of Shebekin in the Belgorod region, which took place in the summer of 2023, received the “Editorial Board” award. At the same time, another of his texts for the publication was nominated for the prize — about the invasion of flies in the villages of the Chelyabinsk region due to the work of a poultry farm.
