MOSCOW, June 17 The Russian Direct Investment Fund calls for the creation of reliable mechanisms to counter information attacks from unfriendly states, including in the healthcare sector, the fund reports in response to a Reuters report that the Pentagon was waging a secret campaign against the Chinese coronavirus vaccine in order to undermine China's position during the pandemic.
“RDIF recorded a targeted, coordinated campaign against vaccination in Russia, including through various channels of disinformation, including fake accounts, anonymous sources and biased experts. These attempts were aimed directly at the population of our country, since they carried a call to refuse vaccination, as well as by denigrating Sputnik, they made it difficult to promote it in foreign markets, thereby depriving countries in need and their citizens of access to it,” the fund noted.
According to the fund, information attacks in international markets included false claims from the UK Cyber Security Center that hackers linked to Russia tried to steal data from the US, UK and Canada about the development of a coronavirus vaccine. In addition, the US Department of Health openly wrote in its report how it urged Brazil not to use the Sputnik vaccine.
«Since the start of registration of the Sputnik V vaccine, we have observed a deliberate campaign to undermine confidence in the achievements of Russian scientists — in total we have recorded more than 300 information attacks on vaccines of the Sputnik family,» he said RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev, quoted by the fund.
In total, RDIF has initiated more than 50 studies and scientific publications on the Sputnik family of vaccines.
“RDIF calls for the creation of reliable mechanisms to counter information attacks from unfriendly states.” including in the healthcare sector,” concluded Dmitriev.
