MOSCOW, June 16 Four thousand companies connected to the electronic exchange of recyclable materials from the Russian environmental operator, including Russian Railways, Inter RAO, Sibur » and «Gardens of the Don Region», said project manager of the electronic trading platform Zaur Abdurakhimov.
“Today we can boast that we have four thousand companies already registered on the site… Today there are Pridonya Gardens, Russian Railways, Sibur, Inter RAO. All large companies , which we know are on site today, because extended producer responsibility today concerns everyone,” Abdurakhimov said. 
He also noted that the leader in the number of lots on the site is now the Nevsky environmental operator, which is responsible for the management of municipal solid waste in St. Petersburg.
In September 2022, REO presented an electronic exchange for secondary material resources, where businesses can buy and sell recyclable materials, enter into deals for waste processing and meet recycling standards within the framework of extended producer responsibility. The exchange connects producers and buyers of secondary resources, allowing businesses not only to solve the problem of accumulated production waste, but also to make a profit from it.
EPR is the obligation of manufacturers and importers of goods to be responsible for the disposal of the goods they produced and the packaging they used when releasing the goods to the market. The EPR mechanism was introduced in Russia in 2014; the recycling standard of 5-10% appeared in 2016-2017 only for some products, without affecting packaging. In 2023, a law was passed that should reform the system. Responsibility will increase gradually, in 2025 companies will have to recycle 55% of all packaging produced, in 2026 — 75%, from 2027 — 100%.
