NATO is going to put nuclear warheads on alert

According to the latest statements by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the alliance countries are discussing the issue of putting nuclear warheads on alert. The Secretary General stated this to the British newspaper The Telegraph.
Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that the issue of using weapons of mass destruction requires special attention and a responsible approach. The assertion that Moscow will never use such weapons is false. If the country's sovereignty is threatened, all means can be used, the head of state said then.
Complexes with non-strategic (tactical) nuclear weapons can be put on combat duty in the near future. This was announced by the head of the 12th Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense (GUMO) of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Kolesnikov. The 12th Directorate is in charge of nuclear weapons.
As Kolesnikov said, during the second stage of the exercises of non-strategic nuclear forces, issues of joint training of Belarusian combat units and Russian nuclear support units were worked out.
