This year, Nissan celebrates 55 years since the launch of the rear-wheel drive Datsun 240/260/280Z coupe of the S30 generation, the famous as well as the Nissan Fairlady Z. The modern Nissan Z is its ideological successor and will be available for some time in the United States in a special retrospective Heritage Edition.
The S30 coupe is one of the main icons of Nissan: at one time, its affordability, unpretentiousness and elegant design greatly improved the international image of the Japanese auto industry in general and Nissan in particular; rare versions of the S30 — for example, the Nissan Fairlady Z432R — today cost a fortune.< /p>

The modern Nissan Z made its world premiere in 2021 and went into production in 2022. It was warmly received by the press and fans of sports cars, but its sales, alas, still leave much to be desired, despite noticeable growth this year. In the USA, according to Nissan itself, in the first four months of 2024, 948 “zeros” were sold (+43.9% compared to last year), in Japan — 924 (+150.4%). Meanwhile, the predecessor Nissan 350Z/370Z in its best years sold 25,000 — 30,000 units per year.

The Heritage Edition is another attempt to attract additional attention to the Nissan Z, as well as a statement about a limited edition — they say, hurry up to order, there won’t be enough for everyone, but the company does not specify how many retrospective cars will be produced.

The main feature of the Nissan Z Heritage Edition is the radiator grille, divided in two by an additional crossbar, which gives the modern sports car a resemblance to the S30. The New Sight Orange paint and black decorative stripes on the body also reference the historical ancestor. Other original details include Heritage Edition commemorative decals, small fender flares and 19-inch black wheels.
The technical stuffing is completely standard: a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo petrol engine produces 405 hp. and 475 Nm, it is combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 9-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission, all power is transmitted to the rear wheels through a self-locking differential.
