A bilateral meeting between Putin and Erdogan is overdue, the Kremlin said

MOSCOW, June 17 In-depth bilateral meeting of leaders Russia and Turkey between Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan are overdue, both Moscow and Ankara understand this; if Erdogan takes part in the SCO summit in Astana, the Kremlin will discuss the possibility of holding such a meeting “on the sidelines” of the event, said the Russian Presidential Assistant for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov.
He recalled that the Russian President met with the Turkish Foreign Minister last week.
«The issue of a possible meeting between Putin and Erdogan was discussed, because the visit itself is on the agenda. And our promise about a trip to Ankara and Istanbul, it naturally remains. I proceed from the fact that if the President of the Republic of Turkey participates in the summit SCO, again as an invitee, then we will undoubtedly work towards holding a detailed bilateral meeting between the leaders of Russia and Turkey. It is really overdue, and both Moscow and Ankara understand this,” Ushakov told reporters.
