The second generation of the Foton Toano van premiered in China and immediately went on sale at quite attractive prices.
The first generation Foton Toano has been produced in China since 2015, this Chinese van is a creative reimagining of the second generation German Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Last year, system deliveries of Foton Toano to Russia began through the official representative office of Foton Motor LLC, and we sell an early version of the van, while in China there is also an updated version with the prefix 大 (can be translated into Russian as “big”, “important” «, «main»), it differs from the regular Toano in a more modern front end design with a giant «grill» and a completely new front panel of the cabin in a wide two-screen display.

The regular and restyled first-generation Foton Toano will continue to be produced and sold in China, as well as exported; the second-generation Toano presented today with the prefix 大V is not a replacement, but an expansion of the range. V is the Roman «five». The manufacturer does not explain what it means — perhaps just the fifth iteration of the model according to the in-plant chronology. In fact, this is a full-fledged second generation of Toano.

The “second” Toano is built on a new front-engine, front-wheel drive platform, adapted to install both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. The front suspension is McPherson spring type, the rear suspension is dependent leaf spring. The standard tire size is 215/75 R 16. Wheelbase is 3070 or 3510 mm, overall length is 4990 or 5490 mm, width is 1980 mm, there are three heights to choose from — 1990, 2195 and 2480 mm. The maximum capacity of passenger versions is 9 people. The payload range has not been disclosed at this time. The curb weight of diesel versions varies from 2010 to 2130 kg, electric — from 2320 to 2450 kg.
< p>There is one turbodiesel for all versions, 2.0-liter: on the basic short-wheelbase van it produces 152 hp. and 310 Nm and is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission; on long-wheelbase vans, the torque is increased to 380 Nm, and the manual transmission is 6-speed.
Electric versions also have only one motor, its maximum output is 185 hp. and 320 Nm. The battery capacity is 53.58 or 77.28 kWh, the range on one charge is 305 and 400 km according to the CLTC cycle, respectively. The maximum speed of electric versions is 120 km/h, diesel versions can be “heated up” to 150 km/h.

The diesel and electric versions of the new Toano are maximally unified both in appearance and in the interior. The driver's seat is designed unpretentiously: the “base” has ordinary dial gauges, a monochrome on-board computer screen and a simple radio instead of a multimedia system screen. The minibus-type passenger cabin with flat seats has a frankly sparse finish. Expensive business shuttles have all the bodywork upholstered in plastic, the floor has “wooden” flooring, and all seats are equipped with individual armrests.

The diesel Foton Toano of the second generation costs in China from 119,800 to 176,800 yuan (from 1.46 million to 2.15 million rubles in translation at the current exchange rate), electric — from 152,800 up to 237,800 yuan (from 1.86 million to 2.89 million rubles). Export prospects for the new Toano have not yet been indicated.
