CHELYABINSK, June 18 Kurgan Region Governor Vadim Shumkov will participate in the regional gubernatorial elections as a United Russia candidate, the press service of the regional branch of the party reported.
According to the regional branch, on Tuesday Shumkov held a meeting with secretaries of local and primary branches of the United Russia party in the Kurgan Region. «He spoke in detail about the results of the region's socio-economic development, upcoming plans, and confirmed that he accepted the offer of the secretary of the regional branch of the party, Alexander Iltyakov, to run for the post of governor of the region as a candidate from the United Russia party,» the statement said.
The conference of the regional branch of the party to nominate a candidate is scheduled for June 29. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported Shumkov's intention to participate in the elections for the head of the region, noting that he had worked hard in this post.
The elections for the governor of the Kurgan region are scheduled for September 8, 2024, on a single voting day.
